diy post card swap

iHanna does a post card swap every year.  I just heard about it this year and joined in.  I have been involved in other kinds of swaps that you generally are only sending to one person.  This one I made 10 post cards to send out and I will receive 10 post cards.  How fun is that?!

First I dabbed paint on the cards and took a brayer roller over the top to make the backgrounds.

Then I drew on the pages of an old book.  Cut them out.  Ran them through the Xryon sticker maker

Applied watercolor to the images and attached them to the post cards.

I use pens to outline the images.

Lastly I Mod Podged the surface.

Finished.

Final Four art journal

My daughter and I sat down to watch the Women's NCAA and chose our pics for the games.  I am not a sports enthusiast unless it is the X games or Olympics.  Sometimes I will give in if it is college basketball.  This year was much more fun because I brought my journal along.
I added some clips from the Time magazine article this week.  It was fun but it was sad when our team choice lost.

Denali Art Club

We met a Park Ranger in Denali Park
We (Sonya the neighbor and I) were invited to join a small group of ladies to go out and sketch in our books.  We had such a great time.  These ladies were awesome.  Sonya and I have finally arrived...we are in the cool kids group.  I can see sitcoms being made from this group of very creative women.  I can't even tell you how awesome they are.
I am going to finish my pages tonight while I watch the new episode of Hart of Dixie but I thought I would show the pages so far.

DLP week 13 -- add someones drawing to your pages

I had my neighbor draw me rain boots.  I am so in love with her drawings that it is fun to have one I can carry with me always.

The DLP week 11 -- add a bird

It is my sons birthday and his hero is Albert Einstein.  Rusty birthday March 15.  Albert Einstein March 14. I never knew that until I added this to my journal.  You learn something new everyday.

The DLP Week 10 -- About Me

With each of these prompts I try to journal a little but sometimes I just get caught up in the art.  It has been a lot of fun.  I am learning a lot and I totally enjoy it.
Fortune cookies always make for great conversation.  We took my dad to Pagodas....always a treat.

I asked for a copy of the place mat with the Chinese Calendar thingy on it.  I am the year of the dog.

The Documented Life Project -- Inspired by Kay Squires

I have been doing this project on Facebook.  It has been a lot of fun and has helped me exercise my creative brain.  I am creative but not exactly an artist.  So, this has been humbling as well.  I love the prompts they give each week and have learned so much.
The prompt this week was to find inspiration on Pinterest and do your own version.  I thought of my Grandma Chello when I did this one.  She would always tell me I was beautiful and still does.  She was really great for my self esteem.
I added the FMS photo a day prompt calendar in the insert so I always have it close by.  I do not use the prompts everyday but I like having them when I am stumped.
